How to Cut Fiberglass Sheeting
Fiberglass is a light, durable building material for crafts and household projects. Depending on how thick your fiberglass sheeting is, you may be able to cut through it with scissors--or you might need to use something heftier. Always make sure you're wearing a cartridge mask, gloves, protective goggles, a long-sleeved shirt and long pants when working with any sort of fiberglass sheeting. If you don't, the splinters and fibers from the cut edge of the fiberglass may irritate your skin or damage your eyes and lungs.

1
Make sure you've got the proper protective gear on--protective goggles, long-sleeved, impermeable shirt and pants, gloves, and a cartridge mask. Cutting fiberglass produces fine splinters of fiber that can irritate or damage your lungs, eyes and skin if you don't wear proper protective gear.

2
Tape along the line or edge you're about to cut in the fiberglass sheet with sturdy tape--like duct tape--to help prevent splintering. You can also mark the line you're cutting on the tape; having something to follow will help keep the cut even.

3
Cut very thin fiberglass sheeting--1mm or less--with sharp scissors.

4
Use a Dremel rotary tool with a diamond-cutting disc to cut through thicker fiberglass sheeting. Support the sheeting between two chunks of wood, or if you're cutting just the very edge, leave said edge protruding over the table--this gives the cutting tool enough clearance to work.

5
Remove the tape from the edge of the fiberglass once you're done cutting. Depending on how clean the cut turned out, you may need to sand the edge of the fiberglass down smooth with medium-grit sandpaper.

Tips & Warnings
You may have to dispose of the clothing you wear during a heavy fiberglass-cutting session; if too many fiberglass fibers get embedded in the fabric, it may be impossible to wash them out.
