How to Create a Website Using Flash Start

  1. Step 1

Sign up for a Wix account. Open an Internet browser by clicking on the icon that can be found on the computer's desktop. Clear the search bar data form, and enter "www.wix.com." When the Wix landing page loads, click on the "Login/Sign Up" tab, and select "Click Here to Sign Up" to create an account. Enter the necessary information in the pop-up window and click "Sign Up."

  2. Step 2

Click on the "Create" tab. You will see a list of thumbnail icons for pre-made website templates. Click on the thumbnail icon that reads, "Blank," and select the "Edit" option. The blank template portal will open automatically in a pop-up window.

  3. Step 3

Explore the blank template portal and its functionalities before building a flash design platform. Click on the "File" tab at the top. Then click on the "Settings" tab that will appear in the drop box menu. A pop-up window will appear, and the "Document Settings" portal will be displayed.

  4. Step 4

Click on the square color symbol in the right region of the screen to change the color. The numbers listed on the "Page" region will enable you to change the initial width and length of the page. You also can change keywords, which will enable you to make the website searchable on engines such as Yahoo! and Google. Click "Apply" to save changes.

  5. Step 5

Click on the "ClipArt" icon that can be found on the vertical menu on the left side of the screen. When the horizontal menu loads, click on the "Animations" tab. This is where the majority of the flash affects will be stored. You also can click on the lower menu that will appear at the bottom of the screen to alter the page transition.

  6. Step 6

Start designing the website's flash intro by implementing the functionalities and components provided in the design portal. It is always best to begin by choosing the background color. This will set the tone for the entire design. Click on the "Save" icon once you have completed the design. When the "Save" pop-up window appears, type in a name for the design. Click on the "Save" button at the bottom of the pop-up window.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep flash animation to a minimum. Too much flash animation can slow up how it loads on viewers' browsers. It may also cause broken links on the website. If you want more enhancements, such as professional hosting, additional storage space, and google analytics, look into the Wix premium service package (see Resources).
  • The Wix platform requires a high-speed Internet connection. Close all other programs and windows to allow the connection to have one focal point. Save work regularly to avoid losing it as a result of a computer freeze, or lack of response from the server. Wix accounts are free for flash designs.
