Step 1
Go online and visit Roland's official website (see link in Resources).
-
Step 2
Browse the selection of keyboards available from Roland. The types of keyboards and keyboard related instruments and input devices offered include: synthesizers and samplers, controllers, arrangers, accordions and VIMA keyboards
Traditional keyboards and electronic pianos are found mainly under Synthesizers and VIMA keyboards. -
Step 3
Determine what keyboard best suits the musical needs of yourself or the musician who will be using the keyboard.
If you intend to do a lot of work with virtual studio software such as Logic Pro and Reason, a keyboard with MIDI input capabilities is a must. The Controllers section of Roland's site contains most of the keyboards designed specifically for MIDI input controlling. -
Step 4
Consider if you will be making music on a computer, with other instruments, or just on the keyboard. VIMA keyboards by Roland are excellent for those who like playing the piano or keyboard just for fun or for entertaining a small room of people.
Synthesizers and arrangers are for those looking to create original music, sample audio files in a variety of formats or combining various sounds and instrumental samples to an overall track. -
Step 5
Considering the price is also another part of choosing the right Roland keyboard. Roland does not sell the products directly to the public. Hundreds of stores and online stores do sell the products, however. Prices can range from a few hundred dollars to thousands of dollars depending on the model and features of the keyboard.
