How To Track a GPS-Enabled Phone

  1. Step 1

Find out from your carrier if your phone offers a built-in GPS tracking program or if a program is available for download. Each carrier offers its own services that you can learn about by calling customer-service numbers. Most of these carrier-offered programs come with a monthly access fee.

  2. Step 2

Find software to use with your GPS-based phone. Handango and Mobihand are popular sites that offer paid software for thousands of various phones. FreewarePocketPc offers free software that also might meet your needs.

  3. Step 3

Determine if your device's operating system is supported by the software you choose before downloading. You can find requirement information on most mobile app download sites.

  4. Step 4

Download and install the GPS software. Typically, there will be a file that needs to be installed and a "Read me" file with that installation file. Open the "Read me" file to learn the installation process.

  5. Step 5

Follow the use directions for the application. Most major applications will offer "on-app" instructions that can guide you through the process of tracking your device in different ways.
