Make Headbands Not Hurt

Headbands are a popular hair accessory that come in a variety of designs. Some are plain in a solid color, while others are fancier and adorned with flowers or jewels. Women love headbands, because headbands can transform a simple hairstyle into one that is much more stylish and chic. Unfortunately, headbands can be painful, because they fit snugly around the head. Some people even experience headaches from wearing headbands for too long. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Attach a faux fur or fleece trim on the inside of the headband, using fabric glue. This added padding will soften the impact of the headband against your head, making it less painful.

    • 2

Glue 2 small pieces of acrylic pompons onto the bottom of the headband (the part that goes behind each ear) to provide cushioning. Pompons are available at any arts and crafts store, such as Michael's. Instead of feeling the rigid plastic of the headband, you'll feel the pleasantness of the pompon.

    • 3

Gently pull on the headband to stretch it slightly. Stretch the headband and hold for a few seconds to loosen it. Be careful not to break it. Sometimes a headband will hurt because it fits too tightly against the head, so loosening it can make it less painful.

    • 4

Wrap a soft, silk scarf around the headband. This works well for a hard, plastic headband by providing a comfortable barrier between the head and the headband.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't wear any headband for long. Even the most comfortable headband can become uncomfortable, if worn for too long.
