How Do I Make My Own Motorola Ringtones? thumbnail
A USB cable is used to connect to Motorola Phone Tools to your computer.

As cell phones continue to evolve into multimedia devices, ringtones are becoming an increasingly popular personalized feature. While many providers force you to purchase ringtones, Motorola allows you to create them on your computer and load them directly to your phone. Using Motorola Phone Tools, you can use any audio file on your computer as a ringer for your Motorola phone. The program comes with some wireless plans, or it can be purchased separately from Motorola---or more cheaply from eBay or alternate sellers.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect your Motorola phone to your computer using the Motorola Phone Tools USB cable. Allow a few seconds for the program to load automatically onto your desktop.

    • 2

Click "Medlody Editor" in the "Customize" tab on the left-side menu of the program.

    • 3

Click the drop-down tab in the "Melody Files" window to select a song from your computer from which to make a ringtone.

    • 4

Click "Crop" in the "Selection" window on the bottom of the screen.

    • 5

Use the ruler bar arrows to select a section of the song you would like to use, and click the play button to preview your selection.

    • 6

Click the green check mark once you approve of your selection and click "Transfer to Phone."

    • 7

Enter a name for your song and click "OK" to transfer the song. Allow a few seconds for the changes to take place, and then remove your phone from the computer to access your new ringtones.
