How to Create Pictures in a Web Page Using Word

Everyone wants to make their Web page interesting, attractive, and more professional-looking by adding graphics. There are many attractive images available and Word comes with many graphics files that can be inserted into any kind of document. Microsoft Word makes it very easy to insert images onto your Web page.

  1. Add an image to a Word document

      Open Word. You should have a blank document on your screen.

      Click the "Insert" tab along the ribbon at the top of Word. Then click "Picture".

      Find the image. Word will bring up a window that enables you to view the contents of the directories on your computer. Navigate through the directories until you have found the image you want to insert into your Web page.

      Insert the image. Once you have located the image, click on the image and then click the "Insert" button.

      Resize your image. You will now see your image on the Word document with little squares and circles on it. Change the size of the image by dragging the circles and squares at the edges of the image.

      Save the Word document. Now that you have the image inserted, you now need to convert the Word document into Web format. Go to the upper left corner of your Word document and click on the Windows icon as shown in the image.

      Convert the document to Web page format. You should now see a pop-up window. Go to the bottom and look for "Save as type". Click the arrow to the right and you should see a drop down list. Select "Single page Web Page". Now click the "Save" button. You have now saved the Web page to your computer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Large images can take a long time for the Web browser to load. Consider making your images no more than 300 pixels in width.
