Step 1
Send to your computer the ringtone you are trying to enable for Bluetooth transfer. You will need to convert the ringtone file in order to change its codec and format to unlock it. Plug your cell phone's USB connector to both the computer and the cell phone. When the computer detects the connection, an "AutoPlay" popup window will appear with action commands that can be taken for the phone.

Select "View Files in the Folder," which should be listed as the first action in the "AutoPlay" window. The phone's hard-drive contents will load in a new popup window. Locate the ringtone file within the phone's hard drive. (Files of this type are usually located within the phone's "Media" folder.) Once you have located the file, highlight it and drag it to your computer's desktop screen. You should know see the ringtone file's icon on your desktop. Minimize the Windows Explorer screen.

Download the official ringtone converter. Click on the ringtone converter link in the Resources section of this article. When the "File Download" popup window opens, click on the "Run" option to run the program, rather than installing it to your computer. The program will take approximately one minute to load all of its components so it can be functional on your computer. Agree to the terms of use for the software and follow its prompts to access the initial program.

Click "Open" when the ringtone conversion program indicates that it is successfully configured for use. When the program opens, click on the "File" tab that will be displayed at the top of the program, and select the "Open" option. When the Windows Explorer dialog window opens, click on the "Desktop" option in the window and locate your ringtone in this folder. Select the "Open" option in the dialog window that will be listed next to the data form in the dialog box.

Convert the ringtone file. When the ringtone file loads into the program, click on the "Output" option and select a conversion format in the drop-box menu directly below the imported file. The output format can be either .mp3, .mp4 or .aac. These are all compatible formats for playback on most cell phones. Once you have chosen a format, select the "Convert" option. The conversion process will take approximately 30 to 45 seconds to convert successfully.

Move the ringtone file back to the phone. Maximize the cell phone's Windows Explorer screen, which should still be stored at the bottom of the screen on the computer's taskbar. Drag the recently altered ringtone file, which should still be stationed on the computer's desktop, back to the folder in the cell phone's Windows Explorer screen. The unlocked ringotne file is now stored on your phone and is available for Bluetooth transfer.
