Memory Books Capture special moments
Memory Books Capture special moments

Memory books are a smaller version of a scrapbook. They are generally focused on one theme, like a vacation or a family reunion. Memory books are fun to make because they are not as time consuming as a full scrapbook, which means they can be completed much faster. Memory books make fantastic books.

Things You'll Need:

  • Small scrapbook
  • Stickers
  • Photos
  • Scissors
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Scrapbook adhesive
  • Pens, markers and crayons
  1. Step 1

Choose a theme. Great themes for a memory book include a pregnancy journal, a newborn baby's month by month growth, a vacation, a special birthday party or other monumental even in a child's life.

  2. Step 2

Buy a memory book. The scrapbook aisle at the craft store will have smaller books, usually with pages about 6 inches by 6 inches.

  3. Step 3

Plan your pages. Since memory books are smaller, they usually have a limited number of pages, unlike larger scrapbooks, which allow for expansion. Sketch out what you would like to put on each page. For example, a pregnancy journal could have a two-page spread for each month of the pregnancy, highlighting the important moments in that month.

  4. Step 4

Gather your pictures, stickers and other supplies. If you are doing a memory book of each year of school for your child, find the school picture taken each year. Look for stickers that have school themes, like ABCs and apples.

Put together your pages. This is the fun part, so get creative. Do whatever you would like with the pages. Add journal entries if you choose--they can be handwritten, or typed out and glued into your memory book.

  6. Step 6
A memory book page should capture the excitement of a special moment.

Share your memory book. The worst thing you can do with a memory book is stick it on a shelf and never show it to anyone.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stick to one theme in a memory book. Include names, dates and places. You think that you will remember but you probably won't as time goes on. Keep it simple. Memory books are not meant to be as intricate or time consuming as a scrapbook.
