Tie A Figure Eight Knot With a Double Bite Variation

The Figure eight with double loops, usually referred to as figure eight bunny ears, is commonly used for tying small Y-hang anchors for rappel lines or creating two loops at the end of a haul line.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Start with a bite of rope, larger than one needed to tie a regular figure eight.

  2. Step 2

Twist the bite around itself, creating an 'X' where it crosses over.

  3. Step 3

Pass double lines below the bite through the loop above the twists, but leave the bite sticking out.

  4. Step 4

Pass the bite over the double lines that are now, two loops.

  5. Step 5

Push the bite toward the middle of the knot.

  6. Step 6

Pull on both loops to take any slack out of the knot.

Tips & Warnings
  • The loops can be adjusted to be identical or different sizes.
