How to Defend Yourself by Using Pressure Points

Defending yourself using pressure points is one of the best ways of protecting yourself when you're being accosted. It takes skill, practice and concentration. It is very important to learn all the pressure points and practice them before you attempt them in combat. If they're done wrong, they can hurt you and seriously injure the other person. Once you familiarize yourself with the pressure points, learn the easiest ways to get to them and when it is best to perform them during combat.

Instructions

    • 1

If you are being attacked by someone standing in front of you, kick them behind the knee. A swift kick behind the knee instantly drops someone to the ground.

    • 2

Disable a man confronting you by kicking him in the groin. The groin is a sensitive pressure point. A swift, hard kick in the groin causes a man to instantly stop what he's doing and bend downward.

    • 3

Poke the eyes. The eyes are a rather sensitive pressure point that can cause a great deal of pain for the person on the receiving end of such a blow. When you are under attack, poking the attacker in the eyes can instantly disable him, and keep him from being able to see.

    • 4

Grab the attacker's neck to instantly keep him from being able to breathe. The neck is a pressure point that, when under attack, cuts off the attacker's breath when you squeeze on the neck with both hands. The attacker is unable to do much until he can breathe again.

Practice finding and hitting the pressure points. Kicking behind the knee and in the groin, pinching around the armpits, pinching the clavicle or shoulder bone area, punching or poking in front of the neck, twisting or stretching the elbow, twisting the wrist and poking the eyes are all good defenses. You'll need to practice these moves to get familiar with them, and quick at recognizing when to use them.
