Make an Emo Coat of Arms

"Emo," short for emotional, is a label applied to people who are overly emotional. Emo people are usually teenagers who lack a sense of belonging. They are easily identifiable by their tight pants, black nail polish and generally depressed disposition. Some Emo people develop a coat of arms using a family name in an attempt to develop a sense of belonging. Anyone wishing to complete their macabre facade can make an Emo coat of arms quickly and easily.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a motto. If you already have a favorite Emo quote, translate it into Latin. If not, there is a vast array of preexisting Latin phrases that are truly Emo. This motto should say something about you as a person and your general emotional state. Your motto will be the foundation for the design of your Emo coat of arms.

    • 2

Choose an animal. The animal for your coat of arms should represent you and your values. For instance, if you want to express that you are strong, pick an animal associated with strength, such as a lion. If you want to represent that you are morbid, pick an animal associated with morbidity, such as a raven.

    • 3

Design a shield. This is a matter of aesthetics alone so use your imagination. A simple oval can be a great shield for this purpose.

    • 4

Put it all together to design your Emo coat of arms. Use your shield as a base. Draw two ribbons, one on the top and one on the bottom. Write your motto in the top ribbon and your name in the bottom. Draw your personal animal in the center. It is acceptable to draw an animal holding something that further expresses your Emo qualities, such as a broken heart.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use your Emo coat of arms. Have it silk screened onto a baby-doll style T-shirt, framed or even embroidered onto a hoodie! Incorporate your birth year into your coat of arms.
