How to Make a Canopy Bed Frame

A canopy bed frame is a romantic and attractive bed treatment that can dress up any bedroom. If you always wanted a canopy bed frame but assumed that it would be too expensive, there are affordable ways to create a canopy bed frame. Learn how to make a canopy bed frame from which you can hang fabric panels to make a canopy bed out of any type of bed.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2-inch diameter PVC pipes
  • 4 ceiling hooks
  • Fishing line
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Hack saw
  • File
  1. Step 1

    Measure the length and width of the bed. Write down these numbers.

  2. Step 2

    Cut two lengths of PVC pipe in the width measurement taken in Step 1. Cut two lengths of PVC pipe in the length measurement taken in Step 1. File the cut ends of the pipe to make them smooth.

  3. Step 3

    Install ceiling hooks in the ceiling by screwing in the hooks above each corner of the bed.

  4. Step 4

    Cut eight 12-inch lengths of fishing line. Tie the ends of each length of fishing line tightly and securely together to make eight loops of fishing line.

  5. Step 5

    Place two loops of fishing line onto each hook hanging from the ceiling.

  6. Step 6

    Place the PVC pipes into the loops of fishing line. The two lengthwise lengths of PVC pipe hang from the fishing line loops above the sides of the bed. The two widthwise lengths of PVC pipe hang from the fishing line loops above the top and bottom of the bed to finish the canopy bed frame.
