If you are a barber or stylist, you must keep your hair combs clean, disinfected and bug-free to protect your business and reputation. Even at home it is important to clean your hair combs, especially if members in your family share them. Children and teens frequently share combs and other hair accessories with their friends. To help reduce the chances of spreading lice and other scalp conditions you may want to clean your hair combs after friends spend the night. Does this Spark an idea?

  • Barbicide
  • Barbicide jar
  • Hairbrush
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Spritz bottle
  • Rubber gloves
  • Tongs
  • Paper towel
  • Cotton towel

Instructions

  1. Professional Disinfecting

    • 1

      Brush your comb using a hairbrush that has soft nylon bristles to remove hair, dandruff, or flakes of skin from the comb before washing or disinfecting it.

      Submerge your comb in a Barbicide jar filled with Barbicide for two minutes.

      Remove the comb from the Barbicide jar immediately after two minutes using tongs or wear rubber gloves.

      Rub your comb with a paper towel to remove excess Barbicide.

      Rinse with water and then allow your comb to air dry on a cloth or paper towel.

    Quick Clean

      Fill a spritz bottle with rubbing alcohol to quickly clean combs without purchasing the professional disinfectant Barbicide and without having to maintain a Barbicide jar.

      Brush your comb using a hairbrush that has soft nylon bristles to remove hair, dandruff, or flakes of skin from the comb before washing or disinfecting it.

      Spray combs with rubbing alcohol from your spritz bottle after brushing them clean with a nylon hairbrush.

      Allow combs to air dry or dry them with paper towel.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your Barbicide jar in a high area, out of reach of children and pets, where it cannot get knocked over easily. Barbicide is a pretty blue which may attract children.

  • Do not leave combs in Barbicide for more than two or three minutes or the combs will become soft and sticky and you will have to throw them away. Keep Barbicide out of reach of children, do not inhale vapors, allow skin contact, or get into eyes.
