Curtain rod holders come in almost every shape, size, and color. You can also find curtain rod holders made from a wide variety of materials. If you need simple curtain rod holders and a rustic look is desired, you could even make curtain rod holders out of cut pieces of plywood.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Plywood
  • Small scraps of 2 x 4 wood
  • Tape measure
  • Pencil
  • Circular saw
  • Sawhorse
  • Safety goggles
  • Wood screws (1.5 inches long)
  • Anchoring drywall screws
  • Level
  • Stepladder
  • Drill/drill bits
  • Screwdriver
  • Sandpaper
  • Paint or stain and paintbrush
  1. Step 1

Draw four 4-inch by 4-inch squares onto the scrap of plywood.

  2. Step 2

Cut the four squares out of the plywood with the circular saw.

  3. Step 3

Cut two four-inch long pieces from the 2 x 4 wood.

  4. Step 4

Construct two curtain rod holders by sandwiching a 2 x 4 piece between two pieces of plywood as shown to make two holders.

  5. Step 5

Screw the pieces together with wood screws. Drill pilot holes with the drill using a bit that is smaller than the wood screws, and then screw in the wood screws as shown.

  6. Step 6

Sand the plywood and paint or stain the wood if desired. Allow the paint or stain to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.

  7. Step 7

Determine the placement of the curtain rod holders on the wall. Use a level to make sure that they are even and make small lines on the wall with the pencil to mark the placement.

  8. Step 8

Place the curtain rod holder onto the wall in the designated position and attach it to the wall using the drill and the wall anchoring drywall screws.

  9. Step 9

Place the curtain rod into the curtain rod holder. The curtain rod will lie along the 2 x 4 piece that is sandwiched between the two squares of plywood.
