How to Create a Website Invoice for Products

If you are frequently working on the Internet, you may find it convenient to create invoices online as well. You can do this on your website by either creating a standard invoice for your website that can be opened and filled out whenever you need it, or by using your Paypal account to send online invoices to your customers. Sending invoices online is quicker and easier, and it could result in faster payments.

Instructions

  1. Download a PDF Invoice to Your Website

    • 1

Design your invoice in Microsoft Word or Excel first. See "Resources" for the Microsoft templates site where you can find convenient invoice templates with which to work. Create a different standard invoice for each customer that includes the company name, address, phone and account number for each company with whom you work. You now won't have to enter this information each time.

    • 2

Convert your invoice into a PDF file, using Adobe Acrobat.

    • 3

Add forms to your invoice in Adobe Acrobat. Go to "Forms" on the menu, and start the forms wizard. You will be able to add form fields to each line of your website invoice so that you can enter information.

    • 4

Whenever you need to create a new website invoice for viewing, just open the customer's standard invoice, and fill out the invoice information, including the product or service being billed for and price. When finished, save the new website invoice under a new name, and then upload the invoice to your website for your customer to view. Email a link to the website invoice to your customer.

    Paypal Web Invoice

    • 5

Apply for a Paypal Business account. You will need to provide a valid checking account and credit card.

    • 6

Click the "Request Money" tab and then select "Create an Invoice" (located at the top of the page).

    • 7

Enter your business address and phone number (business name should already be pre-entered). Enter in the email address of the customer that you need to bill. Type in the amount that he owes, and a complete description of the type of item (goods or a product) for which he is being billed. Be sure to include any shipping and tax expenses.

    • 8

View the web invoice, verify the details, and then click "Send Invoice." This is exactly how the customer will see the invoice on screen.
