How to Make a Discount Rate Sheet
If you are in sales, you may sometimes have to discount your products whether it is to move a product or attract more business. One of the important aspects of lowering your prices is making customers aware of the value they are getting with your reduced rates. Creating a discount rate sheet will give your customers a clear understanding of the value they are receiving.

1
Make a list of the items you plan to discount. Write the original price and the discounted price beside each item on your list. This will give you something to refer to and help you stay organized as you create your rate sheet. Decide the on the order in which you will list your items on your sheet. You may want to list the items with the greatest amount of discount on top in order to get people's attention or you may want to list items randomly, hoping it will motivate the customer to scan the entire sheet. Number the items on your list in the order you wish to place them on your rate sheet.

2
Open a new document in Microsoft Word. Type a title for your sheet on the top center of the page. You may want to type "Discount Rate Sheet." If the discounts are for a limited time, add a date that discounts will end. You may opt for a more catchy title such as "Check out our November Discounts!"

List the name of the discounted items and their item numbers so there will be no confusion regarding the product. Type the phrase "original price" and list the original price. Below that type "sale price" and list the discounted rate. Continue this process until you have typed all the items and their past and current rates on the document.

Add pictures of the items if you have enough space on your sheet. Copy and paste pictures from your saved pictures onto your word document to give the customer an example of the item you are discounting. If you do not have pictures, consider taking some with a digital camera and uploading them to your computer so that you can use them on your flyer.

Print your rate sheets. If your pictures are in black and white, or you opted not to add any, print the sheets on brightly colored paper to catch the customer's attention. If you added colored pictures, print the sheets on white paper.
