Instructions

    • 1

Place vinegar in a jar and poke a hole in the lid. Flies and gnats especially love the smell of vinegar and won't be able to get out of the jar. Set the jar near the plants to attract the flies.

    • 2

Set a cup of juice with a tablespoon of dish soap near the plants. The flies will be attracted to the juice and fall in.

    • 3

Fill a Ziplock bag halfway full with water and hang it near the plants. The refraction of the light off the water disorients flies and keeps them away.

    • 4

Place lavender near the plants. Flies hate the smell of lavender and it will keep them away.

    • 5

Make sure there is no garbage left in trash cans or food products left nearby that will attract them.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid the use of harsh chemicals around houseplants to get rid of flies that may be harmful to kids and pets.
