Like other sheepskin footwear, Ugg boots are not particularly suited for climates that get a lot of precipitation. Wearing Uggs in the snow or rain can permanently stain their soft surface and even damage it. Nothing is more disappointing than owning expensive boots that look old, worn and dirty after only one winter. Fortunately, there is a quick and simple solution to this problem. Waterproof your Uggs so that you can enjoy them for several seasons.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Waterproofing spray or goo
  • Sponge
  1. Step 1

Spray your Ugg boots with a waterproofing solution for suede or soft leather shoes.

  2. Step 2

Give the spray about 20 minutes to dry before applying a second coat.

  3. Step 3

Use a sponge to apply a quarter-size amount of shoe waterproofing goo to the Ugg's surface. This method is an alternative to using waterproofing spray.

Tips & Warnings
  • While these waterproofing methods will protect your boots from precipitation, avoid intentionally walking through puddles. For brand-loyal customers, Ugg produces its own water and oil repelling spray for the boots that provides protection against dirt and oil in addition to water.
  • Waterproofing products must be applied to the boots before the first wear in order to prevent staining, which can be difficult to remove. Do not treat wet Ugg boots with a hairdryer or any other artificial heat source, which can burn the boot's surface. Instead, leave the Uggs to air dry overnight.
