How to Stop Smoking With Acupressure

Acupressure is a treatment that is non-invasive and drug free. It is used to assist in relieving numerous disorders and discomforts in the body. It works by placing pressure on certain points throughout the body, suppressing urges and stimulating different chemical reactions in the body. You can use acupressure to quit smoking, and studies have shown that the results are long-lasting.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a relaxing area where you can practice the acupressure. Part of acupressure is relaxation, so this is important. You want a soothing atmosphere that is free of interruptions.

    • 2

Start with the first acupressure point. It is directly in the center of your collarbone, in the indentation where your neck begins. The second pressure point is on the inside of the wrist, about two inches up from were the bottom of your hand starts. The third point is directly below your breastbone in the center. The fourth point is directly below the kneecap, in the center. The fifth and final point is on the bottom of the foot, toward the back of the arch in front of the heel.

    • 3

Use your knuckles, or your fingertips, to apply firm pressure to each of these points. You need to apply enough pressure so that it does not put you in pain, but there should be a slight ache. When applying pressure, do it for about 20 seconds. For the pressure points on the arm, knees and bottom of the feet, apply pressure to both limbs, waiting a minute in between acupressure.

    • 4

Execute the acupressure daily around the same time to create a habit. You can use acupressure on all of these points, or on just a couple. After about a week, you should be able to notice significant differences in your cravings.
