The glue gun is popular with crafters because the glue binds two items together quickly and with less mess than products like Super Glue. The glue gun can also be used with fabric. If you happen to get some glue on the fabric in a spot you didn't intend to, all is not lost. Hot glue gun glue is easier to remove than traditional adhesives.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ice cubes
  • Plastic scraper
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Laundry detergent
  • Goo Gone
  1. Step 1

Rub and ice cube over the glue right away. This will work if the accident just happened. As the glue hardens, you should be able to lift it right off. Any glue that remains on the fabric can be scraped off with a plastic scraper.

  2. Step 2

Place the fabric in the freezer if you notice the glue on the fabric awhile after it accidentally landed there. After the glue hardens, you can scrape the glue off with a plastic scraper.

  3. Step 3

Use some petroleum jelly to help remove any stubborn pieces of glue. Just put a dab of it on your finger and rub over the glue in a circular motion.

  4. Step 4

Wash your fabric with some laundry detergent immediately after using the petroleum jelly.

  5. Step 5

Use Goo Gone if you still can't remove the glue. Goo Gone gets rid of any type of sticky residue, glue and much more. Just pour a little bit of Goo Gone on a rag and work in to the fabric. The glue will come right off of the fabric.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mineral oil can also be used to remove hot glue gun glue. You can use it instead of the petroleum jelly.
  • A glue gun gets very hot and can cause some serious burns. Use caution when working with a hot glue gun.
