      Snap guidelines using a chalk line. Take a small piece of crown molding and place it in each corner. Mark the bottom on the wall and use these marks to snap a guideline around the room.

      Measure and mark the crown molding. Measure from corner to corner along the guideline. When marking the crown molding, always mark it along the lower, back edge and not the front or upper edge.

      Cut the crown molding. Upside down and backwards is the mantra when it comes to cutting crown. Lay the crown between the saw table and saw fence, just as if it were on the wall. Align the mark with the saw blade and cut.

      Cope the crown molding. Use a coping saw to follow the outline of the crown molding created when the molding was cut. Angle the coping saw toward the body of the molding.

      Install the crown molding. Nail the crown molding at every stud, aligning the bottom of the molding with the guidelines from Step One.
