Instructions

Turn off the water supply to your kitchen sink, and make sure that any excess water is given enough time to drain. You are going to be removing parts from your sink, and you don't want your kitchen to be covered with spraying water.

Locate the nut that you are planning to remove from your kitchen faucet. Spray a considerable amount of lubricant on the nut. This will help remove rust and grime that may have built up in the nut's threading, which will make your job a lot easier.

    • 3

Loosen the nut with an adjustable wrench. If the nut will not move, try using your vise grips to remove the nut instead. This will provide you with better leverage and more power. You can even try to hammer one side of the vise grips to help get the nut loosened enough so you can easily use your wrench to finish removal.

    • 4

Cut the nut off with your metal cutter, if the nut would not loosen in Step 3. It is extremely important that you are experienced with whatever tool you use to cut the nut, because you do not want to cut through too far and damage any of your plumbing.

Remove the nut and replace it with a new nut if necessary. Turn the water back on and make sure your faucet is working properly.
