How to Install a Dish Washer in a Kitchen With Granite Countertops

Installing a dishwasher in a kitchen with granite countertops is not nearly as difficult as it might sound. With one slight variation, it is almost the same process as installing a dishwasher in a kitchen with wooden countertops. You can connect your new dishwasher to the water and electrical supply, and to your granite countertop.

Things You'll Need

• Dishwasher
• Dishwasher connection kit
• Wrench
• Adhesive
• Teflon pipe tape
• Level

Instructions

1. Turn off the water and electrical connections to your kitchen. Measure the area where you are going to be installing the dishwasher to ensure that it will fit correctly.

2. Locate your water supply line, drain pipe and electrical connection under the sink.

3. Drill a 3- to 5-inch hole between the area under the sink and the location where you will be installing your new dishwasher. Through this hole, attach the drain hose to the dishwasher with the provided clamp.

4. Attach your water supply line from under the sink to the hot water valve on the dishwasher. This is how hot water will flow from under your sink and into the dishwasher.

5. Attach all electrical components on the dishwasher to the electrical connection that you previously located under your sink. Begin to move the dishwasher into place.

6. Connect the dishwasher's drain tube and water supply tube to the drain pipe under your sink. Use Teflon pipe tape to secure all of these connections. Now that your dishwasher is hooked up, slide it under the counter and into place.

7. Attach the top of dishwasher to the bottom lip of the counter by using adhesive to attach a strip of wood to the bottom of your granite counter. This will prevent you from having to drill holes into the stone. Now, screw the dishwasher into that strip of wood, and your new dishwasher is officially installed in a kitchen with granite countertops. Turn your water and electricity back on, and give it a test run.
