Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the water source to your entire home.

    • 2

Locate, isolate and mark the hole in your copper water pipe that's causing the leak.

    • 3

Prepare the piece of soft rubber and pipe clamp. Ideally, the pipe clamp should be as close to the size of the pipe as you can get. Also, make sure the rubber is soft enough that it will be able to successfully mold and seal the hole.

Place the small piece of rubber over the leaking hole you marked, and begin to very slowly tighten the pipe clamp over the rubber. It's very important that you don't overly tighten the clamp, because this could bend or break your copper pipe and lead to much bigger problems. As you tighten the clamp, this causes the rubber to mold into the hole and seal it.

Turn on the water supply to your home once your feel you have successfully sealed the hole. Observe the patched hole in your copper water piper over the next few days to ensure the leak has not come back.
