Clean Wood Veneer

Wood veneer is actually a very thin slice of real wood that is glued on top of another object. It is therefore necessary to treat wood veneer the same way as you would any solid wood when cleaning it. It requires the same amount of caution and care that solid wood requires. So if you are cleaning wood veneer, make sure to use a cleaner that is safe for wood.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cleanser that is safe for wood
  • Lint-free rag
  • Oil or wax-based polish
  1. Step 1

Use a lint-free cloth to clean any dust from the surface of the wood veneer.

  2. Step 2

Use mineral spirits to clean the wood veneer. Do this with a lint-free cloth, and clean the entire surface of the wood veneer.

  3. Step 3

Using a clean lint-free cloth, apply an oil- or wax-based polish to the wood veneer. Again, be certain to polish the entire area of your wood veneer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Treat any wood veneer surface with the exact same care that you would treat any solid-wood surface to keep it beautiful for a long time to come.
  • Do not use any kind of rough scrubber; this would scratch the wood veneer.
