When you're pouring concrete and going through the concrete drying process, it is quite possible birds will create stains on your fresh concrete. Removing bird stains from fresh concrete can be a tedious process, but it is absolutely necessary if you want the concrete to dry smooth and look good. As long as you have some extra concrete and extra time, removing the stains won't be a problem.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Concrete and tools
  • Bucket
  • Cinder blocks
  • Wood board
  • Plastic cup
  1. Step 1

Place cinder blocks or another object sturdy enough to support your weight on opposite sides of your freshly poured concrete. This will allow you to rest a wooden board on the two blocks and use this as a small bridge across the concrete.

  2. Step 2

Locate the areas in the fresh concrete stained by birds. Adjust the "bridge" across the wet concrete, so you are able to reach the various stains. You will need to bend over to scoop up stains and smooth the concrete, so make sure you are able to get close enough to the stain to do so.

  3. Step 3

Scoop up the stains with a plastic cup and, if needed, pour a little more concrete to fill in what you removed. Smooth out the area again with your concrete tools.

  4. Step 4

Walk along the board and remove each stain, adding and smoothing concrete as you go along. You could also wait until the end to smooth out the entire area again. Whatever you think will work best for your situation is the right call.

  5. Step 5

Smooth the entire area of fresh concrete one last time. This may be a longer process, but it's important to ensure that the concrete dries smooth and looks good.
