The Motorola Razr is a popular cell phone that is offered on most networks, but each network has the phone locked so that it only works on its network. Because the phone is so popular and has been available for such a long period of time, it is rather easy to unlock for use on other networks.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Call your service provider and ask for the unlock code for the company. The phone is locked by each company and thus each company has an unlock code. You must call the service provider for which the phone was issued.

  2. Step 2

Once you have the code, enter the new subscriber identity module (SIM) card for a different service provider. The phone will not work right away as the phone is still locked.

  3. Step 3

When the alternate SIM card is entered into the phone, you will be asked to enter a "subsidiary code." This code is the unlock code you have received.

  4. Step 4

Enter the code exactly as it has been given to you. Press "OK" at the bottom right of the screen.

  5. Step 5

The phone will unlock and will work with your new provider.
