Almond eyes, which are primarily Asian, are shaped differently from Caucasian or African-American eyes. Eyeshadow must be applied according to eye shape and contours. The Asian, almond-shaped eye poses a different set of concerns when it comes to makeup application.

Use various eyeshadow shades. Start with a light shade at the ball of your closed eyes, then switch to a darker shade onto the crease. Apply the light shade again, just beneath your eyebrow bone and underneath your eyebrow. By using two or three different shades, one dark, two light, you create definition and give the eyelid some much needed contours. Asian women have a single, rather than double, eyelid. Color choice, as well as color placement, must be taken into consideration, as it should be with all women when applying eyeshadow. Different eyes require different types of colors and shading techniques.

Apply a darker color eyeshadow than what is on the ball of your eye, starting from the inner crease of your eye and working outward to create the illusion of a crease. Make sure that you blend out any harsh and obvious lines of demarcation so that you have a soft look.

Note that Asian eyes, which are almond shaped, usually do not feature the double lid, as western eyes do. As a result, the Asian eye tends to look smaller. Even when an Asian does have a double lid, or the crease above the eye, the eyelid profile is still very different from that on a Caucasian woman. There are certain eyeshadow colors that the almond-eyed woman should stick with including darker shades such as plum, brown, bronze, gray and black. Asian, almond-shaped eyes are quite beautiful and should be properly enhanced. After you have applied your eyeshadow, put on black eyeliner and mascara. Black enhances almond-shaped eyes.

  5. Step 5

Consider unique color combinations when applying your eyeshadow. A nice application for almond-shaped eyes requires you to combine a shimmery blue color with bronze. Put the shimmery blue eyeshadow on the ball of your eyelid. This will create the illusion of a bigger eye. Put the bronze colored eyeshadow on the eyebrow bone. Another color combination that is perfect for almond-shaped eyes, and particularly for Asian women who have yellowish skin tones, includes silver on the ball of the eye with a plum shade on the eyebrow bone. This would be ideal for nighttime.
