1
Warm a small amount of mineral oil over low heat in a small pot. Approximately 1 cup of mineral oil will be more than adequate for even a very large salad bowl.
-
2
Add approximately 2 tbsp. of granulated beeswax to the warmed mineral oil. Stir gently to dissolve. You may add a bit more or less beeswax if you prefer. If you can find only solid beeswax, grate the wax with a cheese grater before adding to the oil.

Clean your wooden salad bowl thoroughly. For normal wear and tear, try steel wool before applying the salad bowl finish. If your salad bowl has more wear or damage, you may wish to sand it with gradually finer sandpaper.
-
4
Use a soft cloth to apply the salad bowl finish. Apply the finish liberally to both the inside and outside of the bowl.
-
5
Buff the salad bowl finish into the bowl using small, circular movements. Cover all surfaces to protect your bowl from water and oil absorption. Apply an additional thin layer of mineral oil occasionally to keep your salad bowl looking beautiful.
