How to Apply MAC Makeup
-
1
Clean all makeup brushes and applicators with a mild soap or brush cleaner. This should be done well before using the brushes, so they have ample time to dry. You do not need to clean disposable items such as sponges, cotton pads and Q-Tips. Only clean those items that are reusable.
-
2
Cleanse your face using a mild cleanser. The best types of cleansers are those that remove oils and makeup all at once. Don't use a facial scrub directly before applying makeup, as this may lead to irritation.

3
Prepare your face using moisturizer, anti-wrinkle serum, oil prevention gel, or any other products you use between your face and your makeup. Allow time for moisturizers to sink into the skin before continuing to Step 4.
-
4
Apply foundation to the skin. Use a flat, wide makeup brush to apply foundation. Gently swipe the brush in the foundation, then working from the center of the face outward, gently sweep the foundation onto the skin, being sure to cover any blemishes or other problem areas as you go.
-
5
Line eyes using a MAC eyeliner. Be sure to keep the pencil as close to the lash line as possible to avoid ending up with a wide gap between the lashes and the pencil line. Use an eyelash curler to curl lashes before sweeping a coat or two of mascara onto the eyelashes.
-
6
Lightly brush a powder blush onto the apples of the cheeks. Gently tap the makeup brush into the blush powder and apply, building the blush in layers on the face, being careful not to apply too much blush. You want the look to be natural, not fake.
-
7
Coat lips in a natural color gloss or nude lipstick, then top with MAC shine lip gloss. This will give the lips a natural but glossy look, which is good for daytime and nighttime wear.

Tips & Warnings
Always clean your makeup brushes with mild soap and water or MAC brush cleanser. This will ensure your brushes are not harboring bacteria, which could lead to breakouts. Find the proper foundation color by testing the colors along your jawline. The proper color will be transparent upon application and blend in with the rest of your skin.
Test the product on the inside of your arm before applying to your face. This will help determine if you are allergic to anything in the makeup.
