Gardeners want an inexpensive and productive way to fertilize. A fertilizer blend that is safe and easy to use also plays a key role. There are many things that you use every day that you can make into an effective fertilizer. No worry of over fertilizing or burning your plants. You probably already have all of these ingredients in your kitchen cabinet. You don't need to go out and buy expensive fertilizers to make your garden flourish. Your garden will thank you with lavish blooms and succulent vegetables that last throughout the season. You will also be thanking yourself for staying within your budget for your gardening needs.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

If your hose-end sprayer has been left out all winter, wash it out with dish detergent and water, and rinse it well. If not, then it is ready to use.

  2. Step 2

Fill your hose-end sprayer 1/2 full of Epsom salt.

  3. Step 3

Pour in one 12 ounce can of cola. Pour it in slowly, because bubbling over can occur.

  4. Step 4

Finish filling with ammonia. Pour slowly, because this will help prevent bubbling over.

  5. Step 5

Stir the mixture with a long stick. This will prevent clumping at the bottom of the sprayer.

Tips & Warnings
  • To add even more blooms to your plants, you might want to add a can of beer. If you use the beer, fill the sprayer 1/3 full of Epsom salt and 1/3 full with cola. The beer will take up the other third.
  • If you have any breathing problems, such as asthma, wear a face mask because the odor of the ammonia might irritate your symptoms. Never spray your plants in the sun. The best times to spray are in the early morning hours or late evening. The mixture can fizz over at first. Some people might say "it will explode." It won't, and is nothing to be alarmed about.
