How to Wear a Tux Vest

A vest can be a nice addition to a tux, whether you are attending a formal event or a nice dinner with loved ones. If you've never worn a tux vest before, you may not be sure about how you're supposed to wear the vest along with the rest of the tuxedo. Wearing the tux vest correctly is easy when you know the basic fashion rules regarding these vests.

Instructions

1. Make sure your tux vest is the right size. It should fit snugly, much like a sweater. The bottom of the vest should extend just slightly below your belt, no more than one inch.

2. Pick the right color for the tux vest. The color of the vest should be different than the tie you wear if the tie color matches the color of your coat. Otherwise, the tie and vest can be the same color.

3. Put your shirt and tie on as you would if you weren't wearing a tux vest. Make sure your tie is straight and lying flat on your shirt.

4. Put the tux vest on and button each button. Look in the mirror and make sure that your tie is not puffing out at the top of the vest. Once you're happy with how it looks, put your tux coat on over the vest.
