How to Make Personalized Italian Charms
Italian charms are a new trend in fashion. They come in a variety of styles, from bracelets to necklaces to watches. They are often blank, rectangular and made out of stainless steel with symbols, emblems or designs on them. The charms snap together to form bracelets. There are thousands of designs for charms and they can be personalized to match your interests, tastes or personality. Charms also can be personalized by many stores, who will laser-print words or photographs on them for you. You also can engrave your own charms.

1
Buy a blank bracelet, which will contain 14 blank charms. Seventeen charms are generally needed to fit a wrist, so buy a few extra ones. Choose to engrave as many of the blank charms as you like with words or your name. You can also engrave a necklace, a watch or another piece of jewelery. You can buy Italian charms at a Hallmark store or online stores, which offer a much larger selection. Follow the links below to browse online stores.

2
Use any imaging software to write a name or words in a style you like and print it on sticker paper. Trim the paper to the right size and stick the word over the charm in the spot you want the engraving to be.

Using an engraving pen, which can be bought from any art supply or hardware store, slowly and evenly trace the name or words on the sticker. Trace firmly so that you cut through the paper. This may take an hour or so, but take your time as there is no way to change it once it is done.

Once you have completed tracing the charm, remove the sticker to view the finished engraving.

You can also decorate a charm with designs, emblems or photographs of your choosing. Most online stores offer this option. As you add personalized charms to your bracelet, you can swap new charms for blank ones. But keep the blank ones in case you need to elongate the bracelet in the future or add an engraving.
