Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
- Chalk
- Nylon fabric
- Fabric scissors
- Pressed foam
- Nylon handle
- Heavy-duty thread
- Sewing machine
- Zipper
-
Step 1
Measure the length of your guitar with a tape measure. This will help you determine how much nylon fabric you will need to make your guitar case. Get at least 6 inches more material than you actually need.
-
Step 2
Spread out your nylon fabric and lay your guitar on top of it. Use some chalk to carefully trace the outline of the guitar on the fabric, adding 4 inches to the actual outline.
-
Step 3
Slide another piece of nylon fabric under the one you just traced your guitar on and cut out the pattern. Repeat these steps until you have four guitar-shaped pieces.
-
Step 4
Place your guitar on top of a sheet of pressed foam and cut around the guitar. Add an additional 3 to 4 inches to the overall foam pattern you are cutting out. Do this again on a second sheet of pressed foam.
-
Step 5
Lay out one nylon fabric piece you cut out and place a piece of foam on top of it. Next, you will want to take a second piece of nylon fabric and place it on top of the foam. Use your sewing machine to sew the edges of the fabric so that the foam is sealed inside. Repeat this process with the other two pieces of nylon fabric and the second piece of pressed foam.
-
Step 6
Take both pieces that you have sewn and place them on top of each other. Using heavy-duty, thick thread, begin to sew them together, starting at the bottom of the case where the body would be, up one side all the way to the very top of the guitar-shaped case where the head stock would be. This should leave one side open, which is how the guitar will be placed in the case.
-
Step 7
Sew the zipper onto the open side of the guitar case, making sure to stitch it on twice to make it sturdy. Sew on your Nylon handle to the body portion of the guitar case to help you carry the case. Put your guitar in the case and zip it up to make sure it fits properly in the case.
