1
Place the beans in a container of water so that each bean is under about 1-inch of water. Leave the beans soaking until they form a small white growth on one side. It usually takes one to two days for these to appear.
-
2
Fill a pot with soil and plant the green coffee beans about 1 1/2 inches deep into the soil.

3
Water the seeds and cover the top of the pot. You can use plastic wrap or you can purchase a plant tent to place over the top of the pot. Keep watering the pot to keep the soil moist. The seeds will germinate in the covered pot for about two months.
-
4
Keep the pot in direct sunlight. If you don't have a window that gets full sun or you live in an area that is often overcast, use a grow light to give the plant the UV rays it needs.

5
Remove the covering once the seedlings get too large for the covering. The soil should remain moist at all times as the plants grow. It can take several months for the first leaves to appear on the seedlings. During the spring growing season, add a small amount of fertilizer to the pot to nourish the plants.
