Widgets, also referred to as gadgets, are small applications you can place on your website or blog. They are a popular way of making money off of page views and clicks from your site. There are many widget options. Most of the time you will be able to select what type of content will be displayed. Some popular choices include WidgetBucks, Google Gadget Ads and Amazon Widgets.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Website or blog
  • PayPal account

    Instructions

  1. Step 1

Choose more than one widget. While you don't want an ad-riddled page, having more than one can draw in extra cash.

  2. Step 2

Place widgets where viewers are most likely to click. This can vary depending on your content and layout.

  3. Step 3

Blend your colors. Most sites will let you choose the colors of your widget. Try to complement your site's colors and fonts so it doesn't look out of place.

  4. Step 4

Keep track of which ones work and which ones don't. Some may work great for other sites, but everyone has unique content that can produce different results.

  5. Step 5

Ask for donations with a PayPal widget. Many people respect the effort and thought that goes into building and maintaining a website, and are happy to help out.

Tips & Warnings
  • The help section on Google Adsense has a heat map that shows which areas a user is most likely to click on.
  • Don't place more ads than content on your site.
