How to Make Jeans With GIMP

Second Life is one of the most popular sites on the Internet. But, if you don't want to look like everybody else, you need to be able to create your own customized clothing. Fortunately, it is fairly easy using GIMP (a freeware graphics program) to create clothing for your avatar.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the Linden Lab template for the bottom of the avatar (see Resources).

    • 2

Open the template in GIMP. Go to "Image" and then "Canvas size" and make sure that the canvas is 512 by 512 pixels.

    • 3

Go to "Windows," and open the "Layers" panel.

    • 4

Turn off the Overlay Layer, the Working Layer, and the Background Layer by clicking the little eye next to them.

    • 5

Click on the eye next to the Jeans Layer. Make any changes to the jeans you want, such as using the filters to change the color. Then, save you work as a Targa file.
