Step 1
Don't center everything. It's human nature to want to center your focal point when taking a picture or video but this is visually not very interesting most of the time. Look at any movie or professional photographs and you will notice very often the main subject is to the left or right of the frame making the image more dynamic.

Step 2
The rule of thirds. Following the last step you can incorporate this common rule into your images. Imagine a grid both horizontally and vertically splitting your frame into thirds like in this diagram. Where the lines intersect is a great place to frame your subject.

Get a different angle. Rather than standing straight in line with the subject try to get it from different perspectives, heights, angles, ect.

Step 4
Pay attention to the background. Your background should be as interesting as possible as well as the subject. Try to frame your shots so that the most visually stimulating backdrop is in place with a nice soft focus.
