It is important to review your credit report atleast twice a year. Take the following measures to obtain a copy of your credit report.

  1. Step 1

    There are three major credit reporting agencies. Each agency has information regarding your credit. They will most likely have different information on them. Therefore it is important to get a copy of each credit report in order to get a full picture of your credit situation.

  2. Step 2

    Go to www.annualcreditreport.com to obtain a free annual credit report. This will not include your credit score. However, it is the least expensive way to get a copy of this.

  3. Step 3

    Enter the information as required. They will ask for address and social security number. This is a secure site therefore, its safe to enter this information. They will not share nor sell your information to another source.

  4. Step 4

    A series of security questions will be asked regarding your personal financial profile. The questions ranges from previous address, phone numbers, employers or even current lenders that may appear on your credit report. This information is used for verification purposes.

  5. Step 5

    The selection page will give you and option to review any of the three credit reports for experian, transuion and equifax. Make sure your check all three
    reports to review.

  6. Step 6

    The next page will display the home page of the respective credit bureau. On the page you will have an option to pay a fee to receive the credit score, or any credit related service. It is clearly up to you to decide to sign up or bypass. Realize that signing up for an additional feature or service isn't a requirement. If you aren't interested, search for a link that declines all offers.

  7. Step 7

    Make sure you have your printer ready, or pen. You may only have one time to view the current report free of charge. So make sure you are ready. Each report should have a report number.
