Step 1
Focus. Even if it is a loud volleyball game, shut the noise off and focus on you and the volleyball court, the technique of your serve, and the positioning of the other team on the other side of the net.
-
Step 2
Relax. Think of how many thousands of times you have effortlessly sent the bail sailing over the net in the hours and hours of practice you’ve had. There is not a reason in the world why you shouldn’t be able to serve an ace volleyball.
-
Step 3
Mind the volleyball toss. Many players are not aware of where they are placing the short toss of the volleyball in relation to their bodies before they hit. Keep the pre-serve volleyball toss at an appropriate height for your hitting arm’s swing time, and within a distance that is coverable with 1-2 steps forward (without crossing the proper court line, of course!).

Step 4
Follow through. Once you have hit the volleyball for a serve, be aware of the way your arms swings post-hit (often downwards next to your side or across the body). This can give you insight into why your serves are landing in certain places on the court, and also allow you the ability to eventually “place” your serves- a huge advantage on the volleyball court.
