How to Celebrate a Special Father's Day thumbnail
Father's Day is a family holiday.

Father's Day is the day we celebrate all that fathers stand for, and what our fathers mean to us personally. Celebrating a special Father's Day involves expressing how much you love your father through ways that are limited only to imagination and your father's preferences. With a moderate amount of planning and deliberation, a meaningful Father's Day can be achieved.

Instructions

    • 1

Make a list of your father's life goals. Next to that list, make a list of his likes and dislikes, such as favorite colors, colognes, film stars, sports stars, movie and story genres, and foods. Also, make a list of his hobbies, such as hiking, astronomy or anthropology.

    • 2

Decide how much money you want to spend on activities such as movies, meals out, plays or sports events, and how much money to spend on gifts.

    • 3

Request that each person in the family make him something one or more weeks before Father's Day. Young children can make cards and family portraits. Older children can make a short picture book about their father. Obtain gifts in accordance with your father's preferences and your budget.

    • 4

Plan the order of events of Father's Day in accordance with how your father wants to spend his day, such as whether he wants a leisurely day or a high-energy day. Include several eventful meals to spice up the day, such as a breakfast/brunch, a scenic picnic lunch, and a barbecue dinner at home. Have several options for doing things ready for each part of the day.

    • 5

Obtain several cameras that are easy to operate and, in the case of digital cameras, start up quickly. Take one or more pictures when you feel a moment is meaningful, humorous or picturesque.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not feel stressed about taking enough pictures, or of missing a photo opportunity. Take them as you can and when you feel like it, remembering to savor the day.
