Fun Spinning Class

As a Spinning instructor, you want to keep the classes fresh, high energy, and fun to get people to return to your classes. A big part of that is the music.

The music sets the tone for the class and keeps the participants motivated. The Spinning mix should be upbeat and allow for a variety of moves to get the most effective workout!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spinning Instructor Certification
  • Music Player
  1. Step 1

    BUY PRE-RECORDED MUSIC.

If you are not interested in creating CD's from scratch or compiling a music compilation for your MP3 player, consider purchasing CD"s made for Spinning classes.

There are a few websites that have CD's that correspond with specific fitness classes, including Spinning. Check out workoutmixes.com, spinning.com, fitpod.com, and yesfitnessmusic.com.

  2. Step 2

    CREATE YOUR OWN MIX.

Many Spinning instructors will hook up their MP3 player to the sound system to pay music for the class. This allows them to create their own music mix. If you have an iPod, you can go to apple.com/itunes/download/ and look for upbeat music and compile your own playlist.

  3. Step 3

GET IDEAS FROM OTHER SPINNING CLASSES.

Go to a few Spinning classes as a participant. When you have gone to a few Spinning classes, you will hear the music that other instructors are playing. Sometimes, the music is perfectly aligned with the drills. These classes can give you ideas on what works well as a participant.

During these classes, you see what music works best for you and how you would use the music mixes in your class.

  4. Step 4

    TALK TO OTHER SPINNING INSTRUCTORS.

You may have heard good feedback from participants that attend other classes. Or, if you attend another instructor's class and like the music mixes, ask that instructor how he or she compiles music for the class.

Another way to get ideas is ask other Spinning Instructors on where they got their music. If you especially like the mix, ask them if they created it themselves or bought a pre-recorded CD. They may also offer advice on how they sync the music up with the routine to get the best workout.

Talking with other quality Spinning instructors will not only give you good advice on music playlists, but Spinning drills as well.

Tips & Warnings
  • Listen to the music mix before you introduce it to a class.
  • Ask for feedback from participants or other Spinning instructors.
  • Be open-minded - you may not always like the music, but the class will!.
