Step 1
First, install CrossOver Linux Pro 7.1.0. CrossOver is not a free program, so you will need to purchase the retail version to use the program. If you don’t want to buy the full program, you can simply download the trial version from the Codeweavers web site at www.codeweavers.com. You will need to download the CrossOver Pro package for Debian and Ubuntu operating systems.
-
Step 2
After downloading the installation package, you will need to install it of course. However, the GDebi Package installer may give you an error, so you will need to install the program using your system terminal.
You can open the terminal by clicking the Applications button located at the top of your window. After that, select Accessories and then Terminal in the dropdown menu that appears. -
Step 3
Once you open the terminal, you will need to open the directory where you saved CrossOver Pro. This can be accomplished by entering the following command:
cd /home/falko/Desktop/
You can then install the package by entering the following command:
sudo dpkg -i crossover-pro_7.1.0-1_i386.deb -
Step 4
Once you have installed CrossOver Pro, you can begin installing Windows programs. This can be done by clicking the Applications button located at the top of the window. After that, you will need to select CrossOver and then Install Windows Software in the dropdown menu that appears. This will launch the CrossOver Installation Wizard.
-
Step 5
Complete the Installation Wizard. You can select from a list of support applications to install. You can also choose to install unsupported applications if your Windows program is not listed. You will need a disk that contains the installation files (CD, DVD, removable drive). Make sure you have the installation files ready because the wizard will request it during the installation process.
-
Step 6
After selecting a program, select Express Install or Advanced Install. After selecting an option, all you have to do is go through the wizard. Follow the step-by-step instructions and click Finish when you have completed the process.
-
Step 7
You should find your Windows program under the Applications menu. Simply open Applications, Windows Applications, and then select the program you wish to open.
