How to Make Sun Dried Apples

A delicious spicy pie made from these apple slices on a cold winter day will fill the kitchen with memories almost as warm as the summer sun. Peaches, pears, and apricots can be dried this way to! Eat as is or add to oatmeal or other foods!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • apples
  • knife
  • cheese cloth
  • old sheet
  • plastic bags and ties
  1. Step 1

    peel the apples and take the cores out.

  2. Step 2

    Slice the apples crossways to form rings.

  3. Step 3

    Place an old sheet on a picnic table or other hard surface in the hot sun. Spread the apple slices on the sheet and cover them with cheese cloth to keep the bugs away.

  4. Step 4

    Turn the apples when the tops are dry to allow the other side to dry. This should take several days. Take the apples in at night to protect them from moisture.

  5. Step 5

    Store the dried apple slices in tightly closed plastic bags or in air tight tins.

  6. Step 6

    Eat as is or use to make pies or other great goodies!
