This article will walk you through how to make an easy Chicken soup using frozen chicken and vegetables and dried egg noodles.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3.5 Quart Saucepan
  • Spoon (for stirring)
  • Knife (for cutting chicken)
  • 1 fork
  • Cutting board
  • 2 frozen chicken breasts
  • 1 cup frozen carrots
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups Egg Noodles (size based on personal preference)
  • 5 cups water
  • Enough bouillon for 5 cups water (based on packaging)
  • Mrs. Dash Original Blend Seasonings (to taste)
  1. Step 1

Read these instructions thoroughly then gather all your desired ingredients together.

  2. Step 2

Read the packaging instructions stove top directions for the carrots, peas, and noodles. Determine which one has the longest cooking time, the middle cooking time, and the shortest cooking time. The carrots, peas, and noodles will be referred to collectively as the "Timed Ingredients" for the rest of this article.

  3. Step 3

Add four cups of water and the frozen chicken breasts to the sauce pan. Place sauce pan on the stove and turn the stove on to high heat and bring the water to a boil.

  4. Step 4

While waiting for the water to boil, add the bouillon and a very small amount of Mrs. Dash.

  5. Step 5

Once the water has begun boiling, use the fork to pull the chicken out of the pan and cut it into bite sized pieces. Add the chicken back into the pan.

  6. Step 6

Add the Timed Ingredient with the longest cooking time and set a timer for the difference in time between the longest cooking time and the middle cooking time. Stir the ingredients in the pan a few times after completing this step.

  7. Step 7

When the timer goes off, add the Timed ingredient with the middle cooking time and set the timer for the difference in time between the middle cooking time and the shortest cooking time. Stir the ingredients in the pan a few times after completing this step.

  8. Step 8

When the timer goes off, add the Timed ingredient with the shortest cooking time and set the timer for its cooking time. Stir the ingredients in the pan a few times after completing this step.

  9. Step 9

When the timer goes off, turn off the heat and stir the soup a few times, checking to ensure that both the chicken and noodles are completely cooked. Let the soup cool for a few minutes and then serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • If the noodles have a long cooking time (20 minutes or more), you can add the noodles and then cut up the chicken and add it back.
  • Other frozen vegetables can also work, I just mentioned my two favorites. This recipe is also good with small pieces of fresh potato included during Step 3.
  • The Mrs. Dash Seasoning mix works very well for keeping things simple and providing a nice flavor, however it is not necessary and can be substituted for other seasonings or left out entirely based on personal taste.
  • The chicken will not necessarily be cooked through when you cut it up, treat it with all the respect and care due to raw chicken.
  • This soup stores fairly well, but only if it is refrigerated within an hour or so of completion, if not it is best to throw it out.
