How to Wash Dishes in a Double Sink

You have found the fastest and easiest way to wash dishes in a double sink.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A double sink
  • Dishwashing soap
  • Hot Water
  1. Step 1

    1. Your water temperature needs to be at least 120 degrees at your hot water tank.

  2. Step 2

    2. Clean both sinks.

  3. Step 3

    3. Have a dish rack in the right sink where your clean dishes are rinsed and dried.

  4. Step 4

    4. Put the stopper in the drain in the left sink.

  5. Step 5

    5. Begin to fill the left sink with hot water.

  6. Step 6

    6. Squirt dish washing soap into the left sink. About the same amount as you would use to shampoo your hair, or a quarter size in the palm of your hand.

    7. Put silverware into the bottom of the sink.

    8. Sort out the sharp knives and keep them out of the sink so you do not cut yourself on them while washing dishes.

    9. Leave the sharp knives out and they will be done last.

    10. As the left sink fills and you see the soap bubbles, fill the sink first with pans that need washing, then with cups and glasses, then with bowls, and finally with plates.

    11. Let the dishes soak for about five minutes so the food that has dried on them will be easy to wash off.
    a. It is best to wash dishes immediately after you are done eating. In this way they will be easy to wash because the food will not be stuck to them.

    12. With a clean dish cloth begin to wash each dish thoroughly.

    13. Now first you are washing plates, so begin to fill your dish rack from the front back, with the plates, then the bowls, then the glasses, next the pans, and finally the silverware.

    14. Finish by washing each individual sharp object being careful not to cut yourself.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful washing sharp objects as to not cut yourself.
  • Be careful washing items made from glass that can break under the pressure of washing and hence you end up with a cut.
