Catch a Mekong Giant Catfish By Hand

The Giant Mekong Catfish is the largest catfish in the world. It can grow to nearly 9 feet and weigh over 600 pounds! This large catfish would feed quite a few people at a fish fry. You could make over 1000 fish fillet sandwiches with this monster. The problem is, how do you catch it? Well read on to find out how!

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • bravery
  • strength
  • perseverance
  1. Step 1

The first thing you need to do is travel to Southeast Asia to the Mekong River, where the fish resides. You need to pack for warm weather, so get yourself some comfortable clothes like a pair of cotton shorts, and a wife beater, although shirts are optional. Now that you are at your destination, dressed appropriately, it is time to catch the fish of a lifetime!

  2. Step 2

Now slowly climb into the river, and slowly wander around until you find a fish. Be careful, when they are young they have teeth, but they will eventually fall out. Be sure you find a older, more mature fish so you do not get hurt. When you see the fish, tempt him over with a little treat, like a sardine, or some type of small fish. When he approaches, do not make sudden movements, as you will scare him away.

  3. Step 3

Finally, when he gets near to you, and comfortable, grab him and hold on tight. He may take you for a short ride, but eventually he will get tired. Then just pull him into shallow water and you have dinner for a month! Another common way to catch him is to noodle, or to stick your arm out and let him bite it. I do not recommend this as a 600 pound catfish probably has a pretty mean bite.

on 7/28/2009 cool, I like how you added your headshot to the picture with the catfish too. They are a pretty ugly catfish and seem so mushy looking out of water, I wonder what they taste like???
