Use Hot Glue to Secure a Power Strip

Have so many things plugged in that you have a power strip that keeps tripping you or getting in the way? Hot glue comes in handy for so many things and doesn't even peel paint off the wall! Not to mention, this will make the power strip safer - no more tripping over it and it can be secure and out of the way!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Unplug everything from the power strip so the cords are out of the way. Find a place along the wall or along something solid (computer desk, entertainment center, or even the floor) to glue the power strip to.

  2. Step 2

Let the hot glue gun heat up so that the glue starts melting. Be careful not to let the glue drip onto carpet or your clothing because it will be difficult to clean. If the glue drips onto a counter or tile floor, it will be easy to clean up.

  3. Step 3

When the glue is ready, place the power strip where you would like to glue it and start gluing around the edges of the power strip. Hold the power strip there until the glue dries. Voila! It will be secure and no longer in your way!

Tips & Warnings
  • Use hot glue for other uses around the house. My personal favorite is to glue clothespins to the wall so that I can hang my oven mits in the clothespins.
  • If there are no other power outlets nearby, just one from the strip that you are gluing to the wall!
  • Be careful not to burn yourself.
  • Do not use hot glue on a wall that may be moist behind the paint. This will cause the paint to peel off.

on 5/8/2009 I hadn't thought of using hot glue to secure a power strip/surge protector to the wall. (How do you remove it?) I like the clothespin/oven mitt idea! 5*
