Step 1
Go to the beauty salon -- have layers cut into your hair --- even a few will help. If you hair is all one length, it will have no "oomph" --- layers will help.
-
Step 2
Add highlights to your hair -- again, even a few will help. The highlights will add the look and feel of texture to your thin hair....make sure your colorist (or you!) add highlights sparingly -- too many highlights and it will be all one color...the color of the highlights.
-
Step 3
Buy velcro curlers --- there are kits that have curlers in several sizes. Also buy long hair clips to keep the curlers in. Kits are available at discount stores (Walmart, Kmart, Target, and others)and are generally under $5.00. Best part? They zip up for travel.
-
Step 4
Don't use conditioner! It drags down your hair.
-
Step 5
After shampoo, dry your hair with a hair dryer --- bend over and flip your hair forward---(you can touch your toes for exercise when doing this ---) and dry your hair while it is flipped forward.
-
Step 6
Keep the hair dryer on during this time --- each time you are ready to use a curler, dry that section of hair so that it is hot -- then put the curler in and lock it with a clip. Do this until all your hair is set. Experiment with different curler sizes each time you set your hair until you get the look you want. Once you've done this a few times, it will only take a few minutes to set your whole head.
-
Step 7
Use the hair dryer to set the hair in the curlers by "drying" each curler for several seconds. Then -- leave them in while you get dressed, or as long as you can (If you can get away with it, leave them in during your drive to work ... or to a special event...who will see you in the car?)
-
Step 8
Take the curlers out, comb your hair forward and then flip it back. Use your favorite hairspray to keep the set.
